Research Collaborations

PlatoScience is a company built by neuroscientists dedicated to advancing the field of non-invasive brain modulation. For this reason, PlatoScience collaborates closely with scientists from institutions worldwide to explore the future of remotely supervised tDCS and related technologies.

We offer more than just equipment, we can also provide our expertise, input on study design, and analysis support, among other things. In some cases, we may even be able to offer custom made or discounted equipment. PlatoScience has already collaborated with many researchers on such projects, and we are always open to initiating new ones.

If you have a research proposal that you think might interest us, please email is at with a brief description of your project and information about your affiliated university or institution. We would be happy to hear from you!

Study design

To ensure that the research output from your project is of the highest quality, we are able to collaborate with you in the design phase. With our extensive experience with tDCS, as well as our involvement in studies worldwide, we can offer our expertise to help you optimise your study design(s).

Research system

In addition to the standard features of the commercially available PlatoWork headset and the PlatoApp smartphone application, we also offer more customised setups for scientific research. These customised setups can include a range of additional capabilities such as other NIBS technologies, extended sensing capabilities, sham/placebo and triple blind setups, study specific apps, and access to APIs or other raw data sources.

Discounted devices

When PlatoScience supports a project, we may provide equipment that can be lent or purchased at a discounted cost. However, discounted headsets are intended for non-commercial use only. If you plan on using the headsets for non-research, clinical, or commercial purposes, you will need to purchase one of our other offerings. If, after completing a successful research project, you wish to continue using the device(s) for commercial purposes, this must be agreed upon separately.

How to get started

Contact us on and send a brief description of your research proposal as well as information about the university or institution you are affiliated with. We will then assess your proposal and get back to you within ten working days. The more detail provided, the easier it is for us to assess the project – but we also welcome more open requests where we can participate in co-designing a study.

Data sharing

Please note that sharing your experimental data with us is not mandatory, and the specifics of any data sharing agreements are specified for each project separately.
